Logitech C922 Webcam From €119, logitech.com ★★★★★

MOST laptops these days have a webcam built in which is adequate for quick video calls on Skype and the likes. They tend not to offer the definition though needed for good workplace calls, or even family video conferences.

With that in mind, I decided to upgrade my set up to include a Logitech C922 webcam. This camera is designed for video conferencing but also for streaming and YouTube channel creation.

When unpacked the C922 is compact at just 95mm across and also quite light at just 162g. It attached with a clip and sits gently to the top of a computer screen. It also has a tripod mount so you can position it further away from you opening up different applications.

Installing it is straightforward, and the 1.5m cable has a USB connection that plugs in to your PC or Mac. If your PC has new USB-C sockets, it’s easy to clip on an adapter that will CLIP AND GO: The C922 is a cinch to set up make it compatible with newer home computers.

It really is plug-and-play, and I was ready to go as soon as I connected it. The HD autofocus and light-correction adjusts itself given the light in your room and produces razor-sharp images.

The two microphones on either side of the camera pick more realistic sound from all angles of your room, rather than the robotic tininess that many cameras capture.

I tested it with Skype and Teams and discovered that I can switch camera angles with just one click from the Logitech to my PC camera, giving an almost TV-style look to my video-calls.

I also clipped it to my TV and connected up my PC which allowed us to have whole-family calls with the microphone picking up everyone’s voice as we all fitted neatly on camera.

While it’s not a cheap upgrade, it’s a high quality, easy to use piece of tech that’s as good for family use as it is for work.
