Aoibhín commits to country life as she moves up the property ladder

IT’S a case of out with the old and in with the new for Aoibhín Garrihy as she settles into her dream home in Co. Clare.

The actress and wellness influencer has just put her former house in Ennis on the market for a very reasonable €350,000. It is where she and her husband, hotelier John Burke, and their two daughters Hanorah and Líobhan, have lived since she made the move from Castleknock, Dublin, some years ago. The property was in fact John’s bachelor pad that he had before he met and married Aoibhín in 2016.

Posting a picture of the house on Instagram, John took a moment to reminisce recently. ‘Going to miss this house and wonderful estate a lot, home for the past 10 years or so, with lots of great memories, it’s now ready for a new owner,’ he said.

The five-bedroom detached house is situated in the upmarket Ros na Rí development on Shanaway Road in Ennis, and has a golf course just on its doorstep.

The agent selling the property paid homage to Aoibhín and John’s interiors skills writing on the listing: ‘The current owners have very tastefully decorated each room, with extensive timber flooring, tiling and carpets, walnut floor to the main reception, shaker cherry wood kitchen, upgraded sanitary ware, walk-in and built-in wardrobes.’

The couple’s new home is a stunning self-build, a labour of love that they are now adding their own personal touches. Aoibhín previously said that the move has been ‘years and years’ in the planning.

Blending the couple’s own taste for refinement with their children’s desire for a house of fun, they have struck a beautiful balance.

The former Fair City star is big on colour, with many hues of blue a theme throughout their dream house. Some of the features include an incredible mural for the girls’ shared bedroom, two ornate fireplaces, at least three unique bathrooms, a gorgeous French-inspired boudoir, and a breathtaking kitchen.

She has also brought a touching piece of furniture from her own Castleknock childhood to her daughter’s room in Clare.

‘This was a moment…,’ she wrote on Instagram alongside a picture of two-year-old Hanorah sitting at a wooden table.

‘The old school desk I sat at in Mount Sackville Primary School (complete with ink wells!) in the early 90s.’
