Wallace’s repossessed home on sale for €725k
MICK WALLACE pleaded in court for one more Christmas in his old abode, and judging by these pictures, it’s hard to blame him.
AIB has put the builder-turnedMEP’s former Clontarf pad on the market for a cool €725,000, and this is the first look at the inside of the property that extends to 169 square metres.
Last December the MoS reported how the unkempt No.13 Clontarf Road had been empty for months, according to neighbours, after the former Wexford TD told a court he wanted to spend one last Christmas there before it was repossessed by the bank, to which he owed €955,000.
He was granted a stay, but a for sale sign went up on the property opposite Clontarf Dart Station in the leafy seaside suburb last week, with estate agent REA Grimes describing the three-bed, three-bath detached bungalow as ‘deceptively spacious’ with a ‘lovely courtyard and a large paved garden’.
‘This is a great opportunity to acquire a fantastic family home in a much sought-after location in Clontarf,’ the agent wrote.
Last year, a bank official said in an affidavit that the builder and politician, 64, said he would burn down the property rather than hand it to the bank, and ‘would have to be taken out of the place in a box’.
Now the agents hope the only ‘burning desire’ is for some lucky buyers to make it their home.
The MEP, who now spends much of his time in Brussels, went bankrupt in 2016 owing €30m.
