COMEDY Marley’s Ghosts (All nine episodes) ★★★★ Sarah Alexander plays a woman trapped with the ghosts of her husband (John Hannah, above, with Alexander) and lover (Nicholas Burns) in a comedy that has a shot of poignancy to give it depth. Look out for show creator Daniel Peacock as bungling chorister Mr Pauly in the finale.

The Duchess (Season 1) ★★★ Katherine Ryan’s new parenting comedy has shades of Motherland, although it feels more like a walking stand-up routine than a sitcom. ‘The Duchess’ is her character’s perceptive daughter in a show that softens as it goes on, and co-stars Aussie comic Steen Raskopoulos as the sensitive boyfriend.
