PICK OF THE DAY

-

Defending The Guilty 9PM, RTé2 ★★★★

Will Sharpe stars in this British sitcom as idealistic pupil barrister Will Packham. He believes his job is to make sure that justice is done, but he’s about to disabused of that notion by his cynical mentor Caroline (Katherine Parkinson, right, with Sharpe). As he sets about defending his first clients, who include a wouldbe murderer and a slam poet, his principles are put to the test. However, the law is a competitive field and if it seems he’s not up to the job, there are plenty of other ruthless young pupils who would take it instead.

Slí na mBeaglaoich 8PM, RTé2 ★★★

The second leg of Cormac and Breanndán Ó Beaglaoich’s road trip takes them from Shannon to Clare. They hear plenty of tunes, but also find time to stop off for a cup of tea in Father Ted’s house where they meet some musical sisters.

Nadiya Bakes 8.30PM, BBC2 ★★★★

Along with Mary Berry, Nadiya Hussain also launches a new series tonight, making this the tastiest hour on TV this week. Many of us took the chance to get baking during lockdown and now, Nadiya shows us how it’s done over eight episodes.

Stumptown 9.35PM, RTé2 ★★★

In the first of a double bill, Dex turns to Sue Lynx for help when she tries to find a fellow veteran’s biological parents. In the second episode, the PI befriends the owner of a male strip club who wants to know where the money is going.
