9PM, UTV ★★★★★ This nightly three-part drama gets straight to its strongest suit – David Tennant’s eerily calm performance as ‘Muswell Hill Murderer’ Dennis Nilsen (right), who killed at least 12 people between 1979 and 1983. His Nilsen is detached and chatty, interested in why he committed the murders and impatient for progress in the search for the bodies: ‘I want these people identified and laid to rest as much as you,’ he tells DCI Jay (Daniel Mays), as if the police were the ones in the wrong. The drama digs into his character through interview scenes, and has some chillingly graphic language in part one.

Tastes Like Home

8.30PM, RTé ONE ★★★★ Catherine Fulvio looks back on her visits to Donegal, as well as the time she spent with Mark Bradley and his family on Lake Georgian Bay in Ontario. She also creates new dishes based on the flavours she tasted during her Canadian travels.

10PM, VIRGIN ONE ★★★ During lockdown, we all became familiar with the briefings delivering the latest facts and figures. But what are the human stories behind the numbers? Zara King explores the impact of coronavirus and the efforts of frontline workers.
