HOW IRELAND RATED
JACOB STOCKDALE 4
Carried well but poor handling proved costly, and exposed again defensively. Still, got a try.
ANDREW CONWAY 5
Very effective under the high ball but too often on the periphery which is a shame. Absent in second half.
ROBBIE HENSHAW 7
Superb individual try in the absence of Ringrose and made some serious yards. Good defensive reading, too.
BUNDEE AKI 6
HUGO KEENAN 6
Good at getting over the gain line but his ill-judged kick led to Roman Ntamack’s crucial try.
JOHNNY SEXTON 5
Outclassed by his opposite No10 in an inconsistent showing. Seemed furious when replaced by Byrne.
CONOR MURRAY 6
Missed his kick early on and gave up a costly penalty for not releasing. Dupont won their battle well.
CIAN HEALY 7
Showcased raw power for his try and scrummaged well either side of his HIA on his 100th cap.
ROB HERRING 5
Typically accurate darts from the line-out but offensively Herring leaves a little to be desired.
ANDREW PORTER 6
Effective in the scrum and drove Healy over for his try but crucially sidestepped by Fickou early on.
TADHG BEIRNE 7
The Munster lock carried particularly well in another good Ireland performance with Ryan.
JAMES RYAN 8
Drove Healy over for the try and put in a plethora of big tackles. A good display on a disappointing night.
CAELAN DORIS 6
Doris’s early turnover was brilliant but his penalty try concession was needless. More suited in No8 jersey.
WILL CONNORS 7
Started well with a big tackle and proved effective in the air. Unfortunate to be subbed off.
CJ STANDER 8
Made good gains and was typically effective at the breakdown. Arguably Ireland’s player of the championship.
