A five-step festive facial routine sure to get you glowing

-

There are 47 days left until Christmas Day, ample time to work at getting our glow back after a difficult 2020. With the right beauty and regime, radiance can be improved upon no matter at what age. It can also be done with budget restraints. There are great options right across the board, from mass brands to their luxury counterparts. If radiance and smoother skin is your present to yourself this Christmas start this five-step routine from today, everyone will notice you glow.

Step One: Cleansing. There is no better place to start. A gentle facial cleansing wash, lotion or foam takes away all the grime, excess oil and makeup at the end of the day, but in the morning it prepares the skin for what skincare is about to be applied. Buy a straightforward cleanser to suit your skin type and use morning and night.

Step Two: Deep Cleanse. Whether it’s a peel, scrub, lotion, or double cleanse, exfoliating is a must for brighter skin because it removes the dull, dead skin cells that hide your skin’s radiance. A lightweight peel with fruit, lactic, or glycolic acids is a simple and effective route to brighter skin. Normal skin can use a product like this up to three times weekly. With dry or sensitive skin, keep it to once a week. Look to brands like La Roche-Posay, PIXI, First Aid Beauty, Dr Dennis Gross, or Murad, there are plenty to choose from.

Step Three: Maximise Hydration. Skin is in constant need of hydration, no matter how dry or oily it is. Serum is important but make it work harder by using two. Think of the first as your ‘treatment’, use a Vitamin C serum for both hydration and its brightening effects. Follow this (30 seconds later) with a multi-fragmented Hyaluronic Acid or Polyglutamic Acid serum. The first has different sizes of HA fragments, meaning it hydrates many levels of the skin; the second has huge molecules that sit on the top layer of the skin, effectively sealing everything else inside. Finish this stage with SPF day cream in the morning, use this second serum at night too before heading to bed.

Step Four: Treatment Time. Keep it simple here a nd try using a face oil. Deeply nourished skin looks like rested skin, two to three drops of a face oil smoothed over the fa c e, ne ck a nd de c ol le t a ge relaxes and nourishes the skin. Apply after cleansing and your hydrating serum, and follow with night cream.

Step Five: Night Shif t. The skin works its hardest at night to repair and restore but it needs a little help. Night or sleep cream works to seal all the previous cleansing elements into the skin. Use a lightweight version for normal to oily skin or a richer balm-like cream for dry skin.
