Scots go to war and it’s not a pretty sight

-

MAYBE it’s just as well, in the light of what we now know, that Scotland had the good sense in September 2014 to decline the offer of full independence.

At the time we all wondered how any self-respecting people could conclude that mainly English outsiders would make a better fist of running the place.

But, 55 out of every 100 of them must have identified some disability dogging Scottish politics and confidence, which selfdisqualifed them from taking control of their own futures.

A nation was being handed freedom to rule themselves, without the need to suffer the birth pangs endured by almost every other country on the planet. And they bottled it.

The incredible row between Scottish First Minister Nicola Sturgeon, right, and her predecessor – one-time close friend and mentor Alex Salmond, left – casts a shadow over the independence debate.

The two big beasts of the SNP are clearly out to destroy one another – Salmond alleging that Sturgeon misled parliament over an inquiry into sexual harassment claims against him.

Salmond, who was acquitted of 13 charges of sexual assault, including one of attempted rape, in March last year, has had evidence he submitted to a Scottish parliamentary inquiry severely redacted.

Andrew Neil, writing in the Daily Mail, said the censorship involved in this affair would shame North Korea.

It would have Braveheart hero Mel Gibson turn his back, bend down and flip his kilt up around his shoulders. And we all know what

Scots wear under them yokes.
