Prequel to One Flew Over The Cuckoo’s Nest, essentially the back story of the brutal nurse played by Louise Fletcher in the 1975 film. A chilling Sarah Paulson takes on the role as Mildred Ratched goes to work in a California psychiatric hospital where disturbing experiments are taking place. Look out for Sharon Stone (above) as a wealthy widow. This has a terrific visual richness, although there’s a very grisly amputation scene that might be best fastforwarded through.
