PICK OF THE DAY

-

Jimmy McGovern’s Moving On 2.15PM, BBC1 ★★★★

Jimmy McGovern’s drama returns for a remarkable 12th series. The five-part run starts out strong with Wedding Day, a satisfying tale that turns on two guests, one who wasn’t supposed to be there (the supposedly dead father) and one who really was (the best man). Caught up in the middle of the action are groom Ben (Nico Mirallegro, right) and his mum, Lucy (quiet powerhouse Marie Critchley), as all the trauma that’s built up over their lives crashes out in a series of beautifully paced scenes.

Let’s Talk About Race 7PM, BBC1 ★★★

For this eye-opening Panorama report, Naga Munchetty travels across the UK to learn what race and racism mean to the people of Britain today, especially in the context of George Floyd’s killing in the US last year. Essential viewing.

My Tribe – Mo Threibh 7.30PM, RTé ONE ★★★

The series returns to explore more musical subcultures. It begins with a look at the everevolving Irish hip-hop scene. DJ Eric Moore and his Clondalkin crew discuss breakdance battles and why rap kept them out of trouble.

Unforgotten 9PM, UTV ★★★★

Where is the rest of the body? That question hangs over this enthralling instalment, in which Cassie and Sunny talk to the suspects. The cat-andmouse interview between Cassie and Liz, who has a lot to lose, is particularly good.
