Danny Boy

9PM, BBC2 ★★★★

This powerful, fact-based, feature-length drama tells the story of British Army officer Brian Wood (Anthony Boyle), who faced years in the firing line, not just in Iraq, but – crucially – back home in the UK. Awarded the Military Cross for gallantry during the Battle of Danny Boy in Iraq on May 14, 2004, Wood was to face allegations of war crimes for his leadership during that battle. Toby Jones plays Phil Shiner, the lawyer who took up the case against Boyle and the Army, which led to one of Britain’s biggest-ever public inquiries. (See page 33.)

DIY SOS: The Big Build

8.10PM, RTé2 ★★★

Nick Knowles and the team come to the aid of a police officer who was the victim of a terrorist attack in London in 2017. His injuries mean he now uses a wheelchair, and the DIY SOS crew are on a mission to make his home accessible.

Evelyn O’Rourke: Ailse

& Ise 9.30PM, TG4 ★★★

Journalist Evelyn O’Rourke (above) was diagnosed with breast cancer while pregnant with her second child. 10 years on, she’s finding out how much has changed in our approach to cancer and what it’s like for women diagnosed today.

Grey’s Anatomy 10.20PM, RTé2 ★★★

It’s a crossover episode, as the firefighters from the spin-off drama Station 19 join the doctors to deal with a difficult situation – and the stakes are high. Jo tries to convince Hayes to bend the rules, while Maggie reconnects with Winston.
