Tess talks keeping it simple for super skin

-

Strictly Come Dancing host Tess Daly has just been named as the new ambassador of non-invasive treatment, Ultherapy, an ultrasound treatment that boosts the skin’s natural collagen reserves to sculpt and lift with no downtime. Tess has been speaking to Magazine about ageing, beauty, and the pieces she values in her own routine, including some of her favourite buys and habits.

Of the non-invasive treatment she’s now fronting, she explains what Ultherapy is, saying, ‘I had my first treatment 18 months ago. It can last for over a year so I then had a top-up treatment around the jaw area to boost it a bit, because I have a lot of laughter lines. I talk a lot in my job so it’s an occupational hazard!’

Looking nowhere near her age, Tess has a very positive attitude towards the process. She says, ‘I only have gratitude for the 52 years that I’ve spent on this Earth, I’m not about to start being miserable about that.’ The TV host has a pretty diligent skin care regime and she defines what great skin looks like saying, ‘I think luminous-looking skin is the greatest beauty accessory any of us can ever have. Just lovely, healthy-looking luminous skin, because everything else is secondary to that when it comes to cosmetic products. If you have a great base then everything else will look better for it’

Her education in skin care came early as she says, ‘My mother taught me the importance of cleansing, toning and moisturising. When it comes to cleansing I use Micellar water with a cotton pad to take my makeup off. I also wouldn’t dream of going to bed without moisturising and in the morning I moisturise after I cleanse because dry skin as we know looks a lot more aged than moisturised, luminous-looking skin,’ she says. ‘At the moment I am using Clarins Super Restorative Day Cream.’ The day cream is a star buy for skin tackling changes from hormonal issues, €91, instantly brightening and nourishing the skin. Interestingly, her top anti-ageing beauty buy is from a pharmacy. She says, ‘I have used SPF every single day for years. At the moment I am using La Roche Posay’s Anthelios SPF 50, it’s not terribly expensive but it does really perform well.’ Pick that up for summer for just €20, pharmacies nationwide. n For more information and to find an Ultherapy clinic in
