A YOUNG man was taken to hospital last night with minor injuries after he was stabbed in the leg during a mass brawl in Dublin city.

The Irish Mail on Sunday has learned the teenager suffered a laceration to his leg following a fight involving about 30 young people on Grafton Street.

It is understood the fight was prearranged and the teenagers came into the city from north Dublin.

There were also reports of fighting breaking out between gangs of teens in Temple Bar and Stephen’s Green yesterday evening.

There were ‘dozens’ of teens involved in the fighting, with young people arriving into the city from all over Dublin yesterday. Sources said last night that resources for gardaí in the capital is a ‘real issue’.

The violent scenes have become common in Dublin in recent weeks with a cohort of young people arriving into the city intent on causing chaos.

Gardaí said last night no arrests had been made, but investigations are ongoing. ‘Gardaí are investigating an alleged assault that took place near St Stephen’s Green in Dublin this evening, 19th June 2021 at around 5.30pm,’ a Garda spokesman said. ‘A man in his late teens was taken to St James’s Hospital where he is receiving treatment.’

Last week the MoS revealed how young people responsible for causing chaos along Dublin’s Dart line in recent times were among hundreds of teenagers who descended on the city during the June bank holiday weekend, intent on causing chaos.

We told how the gangs have been organising themselves on social media app Snapchat.
