This three-part series draws on interviews with some of the biggest names in British sport to trace the journey from humiliation at Atlanta in 1996 (one gold medal) through to the London Games in 2012. And it seems they owe a debt of gratitude to former British Prime Minister John Major and the country’s national lottery.
