Adele loses the common touch
HOW times have changed for sobby songstress Adele. As she tearfully pulled out of her mega-money residency in Las
Vegas – reportedly because of an inadequate sound system – I was reminded of simpler times when the girl from Tottenham really had the ‘down-to-earth’ attitude her brand promotes.
In 2011, Adele launched her second album, 21, at The Tabernacle, pictured, a community hall in Notting Hill. She was already famous yet had no qualms about belting out her thennew single, Someone Like You, on the Tabernacle’s sound equipment, which is used mostly for amateur dramatics.
Perhaps the singer is no longer as low-key as she makes out…
