JANET JACKSON
SKY/NOW DOCUSERIES
To mark the 40th anniversary of her self-titled debut album, Michael’s little sister Janet (right) appears in a four-part documentary about her life. There’s no soft-soaping as Jackson opens up on key moments, claiming she won’t gloss over any of her triumphs or tragedies.
From Monday
REACHER AMAZON DRAMA
Fans of Lee Child’s addictive Jack Reacher novels hated Tom Cruise in the role of the 6ft 5in action hero, as he simply didn’t measure up. What they’ll think of Alan Ritchson in the role in Amazon’s new series is anyone’s guess: sure, he’s got the height and muscles, but seems overfond of a Bond-esque wisecracking one-liner… time will tell. From Friday
DER PASS
SKY THRILLER
The spooky crime thriller’s second series is just as enthralling as its predecessor. Detectives Ellie Stocker and Gedeon Winter (Nicholas Ofczarek) are called in to investigate after several female corpses are found on the German-Austrian border. Available now
CRY WOLF ALL4/WALTER PRESENTS SCANDI
It’s grim up north, but it’s also gripping. There’s a lot of buzz around this award-winning eightepisode Danish drama from the makers of the brilliant Borgen. Cry Wolf is a tense family saga and a penetrating look at the social services system. Is 14-year-old Holly’s stepfather a violent man, as she suggests in a school essay? Or has an overzealous social worker fallen for a teenager’s exaggeration? Holly and her seven-year-old brother are placed in foster care but their parents strenuously insist Lars, the social worker, has got it all wrong and take legal action. Meanwhile, video footage of Lars being heavy-handed loses him public support. It’s far from clear who is telling the truth. This was a big hit in Scandinavia and Flora Ofelia Hofmann Lindahl, the 16-year-old actress playing Holly, is one to watch. Also stars Christine
Albeck Borge (inset above). Available now
