Fulham fan’s fatal heart attack
FULHAM’S Championship clash with Blackpool was overshadowed by tragedy after a supporter died following a cardiac arrest in the stands.
The first half was delayed by around 40 minutes while fan Paul Parish was treated in the Hammersmith End. Players and referee Peter Bankes were alerted by fans, prompting club doctors to rush to the scene and offer support. Fans formed a protective ring around Mr Parish using flags to shield him before he was taken to hospital in an ambulance. Fulham said in a statement: ‘It’s with immense sadness that we inform fans of the passing of Paul Parish. The thoughts of everyone at Fulham go out to Paul’s family.’
