- By Colm McGuirk

TWO people arrested in relation to the fatal stabbing of a man on Thursday have been released without charge.

A man in his 30s and a woman in her 20s, who were questioned at Baltinglass and Bray Garda stations in Co. Wicklow, were released yesterday afternoon, with investigations ongoing.

Juris Viktorovs, 36, died after being stabbed in the chest on Thursday evening at his home in Ballyconnell, Shillelagh, Co. Wicklow.

It is understood the killer was known to Mr Viktorovs and there had been a social gathering at the victim’s home when the attack happened.

A dispute is said to have broken out, which resulted in the victim being stabbed.

Emergency services were called shortly afterwards but Mr Viktorovs was pronounced dead at the scene.

Gardaí removed a number of items from the house, including knives, and the scene has been preserved for forensic examination.

It is understood Mr Viktorovs, who was originally from Lithuania, had only moved into the house a few months ago.

Gardaí yesterday renewed their appeal to anyone with potentially relevant information to come forward.

The have also asked for anyone with dashcam footage, who might have passed through Ballyconnell between 7pm and 8.15pm on Thursday, to bring it forward.
