HOW THEY RATED
Marks out of 10 Rob O’Halloran
Ireland
HUGO KEENAN 6 Solid under high ball. Rag-dolled by Villiere and his kicking away possession at end was baffling.
ANDREW CONWAY 6 Not used often enough in attack. Big tackle on Penaud denied a likely try but largely unused on the ball.
GARRY RINGROSE 6 Failed to make inroads. Still, he is thriving in this Ireland set-up after slow start under Farrell’s watch.
BUNDEE AKI 6 Lots of hard yards from the Connacht centre, when Ireland arguably needed more flair.
MACK HANSEN 8 Plundered try from a kick-off got Ireland back into the game. Some big moments in defence.
JOEY CARBERY 8 Exceptional off the tee. Lots of variation in performance, furthering his claim to be Sexton’s successor.
JAMISON GIBSON-PARK 6 Poor display and some wayward kicking, but scored remarkable individual try in the second half.
ANDREW PORTER 7 Tough afternoon against Atonio in the tight. Prominent in the loose and key turnover sparked Irish fightback.
RONAN KELLEHER 6 Early turnover and crucial hit on Marchand but injury cut his shift short after just 25 minutes.
TADHG FURLONG 7 His committed carries didn’t reap the usual rewards. Scrummed well against Baille.
TADHG BEIRNE 8 Trademark turnovers gave Ireland lifelines. Savvy dark arts to impede Dupont’s kick and chase.
JAMES RYAN 5 Made multiple first-half infringements. Strange call to kick for posts when six points behind.
CAELAN DORIS 6 Lots of uncharacteristic individual errors but made 11 tackles. Paris hasn’t been kind to him.
JOSH VAN DER FLIER 7 Big hit on Marchand and real power to score close-range try. Well versed in the physical stakes.
JACK CONAN 5 Didn’t have the power or space to excel in Paris. Outshone by France’s storming No8 Gregory Alldritt.
