Louis Theroux’s Forbidden America 9PM, BBC2 ★★★★

Louis returns for three brandnew episodes in which he revisits controversial topics he has delved into before, this time focusing on the impact of the internet and social media. He starts with America’s far right and the racist, misogynist and antiSemitic voices that are loudly amplified online — and even Louis struggles to disarm all the figures he meets. Future episodes revisit rap culture and the porn industry as Louis once again ventures down some pretty disturbing rabbit holes.

Dancing On Ice 6PM, VIRGIN ONE/UTV ★★★

Phillip Schofield (who has hopefully made a full recovery after recently testing positive for Covid) and Holly Willoughby invite the remaining celebs to take to rink the once more.

Who will glide into next week?

Smother 9.30PM, RTÉ ONE ★★★

In this series finale, Val (Dervla Kirwan, above) is determined to confront Alanna but when her investigation twists toward a surprising conclusion, she realises, too late, that an even darker threat is brewing much, much closer to home.

Generation Dating 10.45PM, VIRGIN ONE ★★★

The idea behind this dating show is to bring together two strangers with a substantial age gap and let them matchmake for each other. Will youthful energy or the wisdom of age be more of a bonus?
