Man’s face, head and body burnt in acid attack
INVESTIGATIONS are ongoing into an acid attack incident in Cork which has left two men hospitalised – one with serious burns to his face and torso.
Gardaí arrested a man in his 30s in connection with the attack in the early hours of yesterday. He is being detained at Bridewell Garda Station.
The incident happened at a house on Connolly Road in Ballyphehane on Friday night. Gardaí and emergency services were alerted to the incident at around 8.20pm.
Gardaí believe a man forced his way into the house and threw a liquid at a 45-year-old man who suffered suspected acid burn injuries to his face, head and torso.
Two other men in the house were also treated for minor injuries after the incident.
All three men had to receive preliminary treatment at the scene in a special decontamination unit. Two of the men, were removed to Cork University Hospital with what are believed to be serious, but non-life threatening injuries. The third man received treatment for his injuries at the scene.
