★★★ Ana de Armas dazzled as a CIA agent in No Time To Die, and is a much darker presence in this neat erotic thriller based on a Patricia Highsmith novel. De Armas is Melinda (above), the younger wife of rich, brooding Vic (Ben Affleck, reminding us of his Batman). She has affairs and he seems to tolerate it, but there’s a deadly undercurrent between them, and twists you don’t often see in the genre – the couple have a child, and he breeds snails. From Friday.

Netflix has cornered the market in sensational true crime, and this new jawdropper is the latest example. It revels in the tale of celebrity vegan restaurateur Sarma Melngailis, who married a man who promised to make her successful and her dog immortal – so long as she never questioned him. Needless to say, that didn’t end well. From Wednesday.

It won’t be for everyone, but this grounded London gangster drama, which started on Ch4 before moving to Netflix, is the best of its kind. From Friday.
