A WOMAN was in a critical condition last night after she was shot in a housing estate in Dublin.

The shooting occurred in Finglas on the northside of the city shortly before 9pm.

Gardaí and emergency services were called to Collins Place and a woman was treated at the scene. It is understood the woman was shot in the chest. A Garda spokesman last night told the Irish Mail on Sunday the woman was in ‘a critical condition’.

Gardaí at Finglas have begun a criminal investigation into the shooting and are seeking witnesses in the area to come forward.

The scene of the shooting was sealed off last night to allow the Garda Technical Bureau to carry out a forensic examination.
