Brassed Off (Wednesday) Ewan McGregor (right) was the only cast member who could play a brass instrument. He had played the French horn as a boy, a similar instrument to the tenor horn he plays in the film. Growing up in Scotland, Ewan turned down the chance to play in Perthshire Brass’s youth section to concentrate on his acting.
