CODA APPLE OSCAR-WINNING
MOVIE
From Sundance to the Oscars, CODA was one of the most deservingly acclaimed films of 2021. It tells story of a teenager (Emilia Jones) who is a CODA, a child of deaf adults. As the only hearing member of her family, she serves as a translator between them and the community.
However, she’s torn between her dream of pursuing a career as singer and the feeling she has to stay to help out with her family’s fishing business. CODA is the first film with a predominantly deaf cast to win the Best Picture Oscar, while Troy Kotsur (Best Supporting Actor) is the second deaf actor to win an Oscar. It also picked up a gong for Best Adapted Screenplay. See what all the fuss is about here.
