START YOUR DAY WELL
There is an old saying in the Irish language: Tús maith leath na hoibre — ‘A good start is half the battle’.
Benjamin Franklin spoke about his morning question: ‘What good will I do today?’ GLAD is a mnemonic I use to start my day well. This is a written exercise that only takes a few minutes to reset your mind and heart towards abundance and appreciation.
Take a few moments to reflect on each of the following questions. The answers can be brief, just a few intentional words that make a difference.
GRATITUDE: What or who are you grateful for today?
LET GO: What can you let go of today? Little niggles, petty resentments, old ideas that no longer serve you?
APPRECIATION: Who can you appreciate today? Someone who you will appreciate through an active demonstration of gratitude or kindness.
DEDICATED FOCUS: What are you dedicating your time and energy to today? What is your most important project or goal?
