Good lord! The photos that prove Bridgerton’s Charithra has ALWAYS been belle of the ball

BEING named ‘diamond of the season’ by the formidable Queen Charlotte may be the ultimate accolade for a Bridgerton female, but actress Charithra Chandran is clearly not a first-time belle of the ball.

These exclusive pictures show Charithra, whose character Edwina Sharma is awarded the diamond title in the current series of the TV hit, enjoying herself at a series of black-tie parties at Oxford University.

In the Netflix drama, the 25year-old plays the love interest of Lord Anthony Bridgerton but finds herself caught up in a love triangle with her own sister.

Mirroring her onscreen character, Ms Chandran – who graduated from Oxford in 2019 – was caught on camera at a series of exclusive gatherings including the Oxford Law Society ball at the plush Hedsor House. The 12th-century mansion in in Buckinghamshire is a popular location for film and TV shoots and has also been the venue for parties hosted by Elton John, the Beckhams, George Clooney and other A-list celebrities.

Wearing a chic pink dress, Ms Chandran enjoyed a champagne

and canapé reception on the lawns of the 85-acre estate before sitting down to a three-course meal followed by dancing under the building’s Italianate dome.

The event in 2017 also had an open bar and live music which was enjoyed by Ms Chandran, who was born in the Scottish city of Perth and read philosophy, politics and economics at Oxford.

For the New College boat party in the same year, Ms Chandran – whose first acting role came last year in the children’s spy thriller Alex Rider – wore a red cocktail dress. And at the Oxford Diwali Ball, where guests were treated to unlimited canapés, drinks, and Bollywood music, Ms Chandran, whose Indian parents are doctors, chose a pink and gold sari adorned with jewellery.

Another event was the Oxford Union Hilary Ball in 2018, with a silent disco where revellers danced to music on headphones.

After graduating, she got a job as a management consultant but took a gap year to pursue acting. In an interview she said: ‘I met the most wonderful, creative, open-minded people and it was where I was most happy.’
