Power backing Lowry to fight to the finish

- By Philip Quinn

SEAMUS Power is backing

Shane Lowry to take the fight to Scottie Sheffler as the 86th Masters builds to a climax in Augusta today.

‘Shane has a knack for having these amazing moments in golf. Nothing would surprise me with him,’ said Power, after a third round of 74.

‘Scottie is going to take a lot of catching. He’s on an unbelievable run of form and he doesn’t look like he’s going to get too bothered by the moment.

‘But we’ve seen guys in this position before.

‘It’s not easy to win, especially not here.’

In cold, breezy conditions, Rory McIlroy improved to one over par after a battling 71.

‘It’s just hard to go very low out there,’ said McIlroy, who does not regard himself as a contender heading into the final round.

‘I moved up a few places with that score and I’ll try to move up a few more tomorrow, try to get a top ten and move on.’
