RUSSIAN DOLL
TIME-LOOP THRILLER
Imagine Groundhog
Day, but set at a 36th birthday party that ends with the death of the guest of honour. That’s the premise for series one of a brilliant, head-spinning drama that’s largely the brainchild of its star, Natasha Lyonne. It stands out — endless smoking and fatalistic Jewish sense of humour apart — because Lyonne uses the timeloop device to dig into and change her character Nadia, an emotionally stunted games developer with a death wish lifestyle. Wednesday sees the start of series two.
