PERIOD MURDER-MYSTERY Before Downton Abbey (also written by Julian Fellowes) there was Gosford Park, with its biting wit, Upstairs, Downstairs themes and echoes of Agatha Christie. One of those intricate ensemble dramas the late director Robert Altman put together so effortlessly, Gosford Park delights on so many levels — on the one hand it’s a comedy-laced murder-mystery, on the other it invites viewers to plunge deeper into master-servant politics.
