HUNTERS OUTER RANGE
AL PACINO’S AFTER NAZIS Al Pacino doesn’t venture onto TV often, and he makes his longest foray yet for Amazon’s thriller — a stylish, violent and heartfelt blend of fantasy and reality about a diverse group of Nazi hunters in 1970s America, of which Meyer Offerman (Pacino) is the charismatic leader. It’s from the pen of David Weil, whose grandparents were both Holocaust survivors, and a second series is on the way.
SUPERNATURAL WESTERN Josh Brolin looks like the classic cowboy so, when he appears on screen as rancher Royal Abbott, it feels like Outer Range is going to be another gritty TV western, like Yellowstone. That is very much not the case. The product of a tough eight-month shoot in New Mexico, this beguiling mystery mixes realworld problems with things from beyond, including a huge hole that seems to bring flashes of the future. It’s the kind of show that will leave your jaw hanging. Weekly, on
