DEATH ON THE NILE
BIG-BUDGET GLAMOUR
Kenneth Branagh’s second Poirot movie has the feel of an Agatha Christie theme park ride — the costumes, the dancing, the music and sets, everything is pushed to 11. Wonder Woman’s Gal Gadot (above, centre) is wildly sensual as one point on a love triangle that seems to be the cause of murder, and it’s when we get to solving that case that the film slows down — but, only by comparison. Christie’s mystery is strong, and Branagh’s Poirot has both depth and comedy.
