In April 2021, a dozen of Europe’s biggest clubs, including six from England, announced their plans to form their own breakaway competition. Then, amid outrage from fans (right) and the media, the English clubs dropped out and within three days, the European Super League was dead. Now, a year on, this documentary asks how an idea which was criticised for abandoning some of the key principles behind the beautiful game came to be floated in the first place.
