Roche insists ‘there was collaboration but no collusion’

-

CYCLING superhero Stephen Roche has denied that his wife colluded in defrauding creditors of his failed Spanish firm.

Speaking about transfers from the failing Spanish company to his wife Csilla RocheHenschl, Mr Roche said it was unfair to drag her into the proceedings against him.

‘She doesn’t deserve that,’ he told the Irish Mail on Sunday.

‘It looks like collusion or whatever, which it’s not at all.’

Mr Roche said any payments to his wife from his Spanish firm were related to a similar tourism enterprise he was trying to set up near Chamonix at the time.

‘There were transfers like that being done and we were trying to do the business down there,’ he said.

‘All that money that was sent there was mostly related to the … thing we were trying to set up there.

‘She was on site there trying to hold the fort and it was easier, logistically, for me to transfer the money and she was paying on site, you know.’

But Mr Roche insisted there had been no collusion with his wife.

‘There was cooperation,’ he added. ‘There was collaboration but there was no kind of collusion.
