Truss’s prejudiced remark is hardly a turnip for the books

Liz Truss’s ignorant remark about how the impact of a no-deal Brexit in ireland would only ‘affect a few farmers with turnips in the back of their trucks’ followed Boris Johnson’s quip about Leo Varadkar being elected Taoiseach asking why he wasn’t ‘called Murphy like the rest of them?’. Nice to see that anti-irish prejudice is alive and well in the top echelons of the Tory party.
