With Limerick and Clare already qualified for a Munster final and filling the top two slots, this is a threeway battle for third place and a preliminary All-Ireland quarter-final. A Cork win against Tipperary would see them take that slot because they have Waterford on the head-to-head that applies if two teams finish with the same points total.

A Tipperary win would revive their chances of taking third spot, but only if Waterford lose to Clare. In that case, it’s a three-way tie on two points so score difference applies. Tipp need to beat Cork by at least seven and make up a -14 difference on Waterford to progress. Waterford need a draw or a win against Clare and for Tipp to beat Cork to qualify.
