WELCOME TO HELL

Just seven of Ireland’s toughest and fittest recruits remain as this season’s challenge reaches its brutal finale

-

The ‘Hell’ arrives in Ultimate Hell Week as it moves into the final, tactical stage. Of the 28 recruits who started the course, just seven candidates now remain in the RTE series. So far, the remaining hopefuls have overcome every Hell Week challenge but this final 24 hours will be the most physically and psychologically demanding experience of their lives. If they get through these final tests, they have passed the Ultimate Hell Week course. It’s all or nothing.

At the beginning of the series, three groups of civilians attempted to pass the world’s most gruelling reality TV show. They were thrown in at the deep end when their bus was suddenly ambushed by the

DS (Directing Staff). That intense welcome got even tougher as the DS decided unarmed combat was the perfect way for the recruits to properly introduce themselves to one another. But with a failure rate upwards of 90 per cent, only the toughest candidates have survived the challenges set over the past few weeks.

The participants have been required to pass numerous rigorous physical and mental tests, surviving on just two to three hours of sleep a night. The brave recruits have also had to overcome cold-water events, height tests and claustrophobic challenges as well as various trials of strength, stamina and determination.

Those who remain are among Ireland’s fittest civilians and they all have one thing in common — each of them believes they have what it takes to pass the course and get to the end of this week. Raw, real and relentless, there is no certainty that anyone will make it to the end.

The final episode of Special Forces – Ultimate Hell Week is on RTE One on Thursday at 9.30pm.
