NEVER HAVE I EVER DAY SHIFT

FUNNY, WARM-HEARTED HIGH-SCHOOL STORY NEW VAMPIRE ACTION

-

This refreshingly comical coming-of-age story is based on creator Mindy Kaling’s childhood experiences and, in a hilariously offbeat touch, is narrated by John McEnroe. It’s about an IndianAmerican student called

Devi (newcomer Maitreyi Ramakrishnan) who, for a while, loses all sensation in her legs after the sudden death of her father. When she returns to school, she’s determined to end her geeky reputation and become a cool kid. The first series was a huge hit for Netflix and the second was, unusually, deemed better than the first. Series three from Friday

This is a little different from the traditional grizzled cop with problems who spends a shift with an enthusiastic rookie because in this blood-splattered comedy drama, the bad guys they’re catching — and killing — are vampires. Oscar-winner Jamie Foxx (below left, with Snoop Dogg) stars. From Friday
