TIERNEY RIGHT TO RULE OUT AMARTEY GOAL

- Chris Foy FORMER PREMIER LEAGUE REFEREE

LEICESTER have put a cross into the box, Harvey Barnes challenges keeper Edouard Mendy and the ball breaks to Daniel Amartey who puts it into the net.

Paul Tierney, the match referee, has seen what he thinks is a foul by Barnes on the keeper and whistles so the goal is ruled out by an on-field decision.

It’s automatically checked by the VAR — in this case Andre Marriner — and he sees the foul by Barnes.

You can clearly see Barnes has his arm around keeper Mendy’s neck, so both officials are in agreement.
