Brian and Arthur welcome their baby girl

PRESENTER Brian Dowling and his husband Arthur Gourounlia­n yesterday announced the birth of their daughter.

The couple became parents through surrogacy and Brian’s sister Aoife volunteere­d to help them on their pregnancy journey.

The couple, who are advocates for domestic surrogacy reform in Ireland, travelled to Portugal to find a donor egg.

Brian shared the news on Saturday afternoon on Instagram, writing: ‘Please be upstanding for the arrival of our beautiful daughter Blake Maria Rose Dowling Gourounlia­n. Yes people another BDG. Blake was delivered safely on Thursday, September 1 at 14.52 weighing [sic] 7lbs 4ozs. We are absolutely totally in love with her and can’t believe she’s here and is ours.’ Friends and well wishers were quick to offer congratula­tions.

TV chef Donal Skehan wrote: ‘Hello baby Blake, you absolute beauty! Can’t wait to meet her – huge congratula­tions.’

Influencer Bonnie Ryan wrote: ‘Massive congratula­tions! And what a beautiful name.’

Rosanna Davison added: ‘Huge congratula­tions. Fantastic news that she’s safely here! Big hugs to all xxx.’
