Kane on hand to keep Spurs moving up
ANOTHER derby, another milestone goal from Harry Kane. This time, his effort helped Tottenham earn a win over Fulham and extend their unbeaten start to the Premier League season.
Kane struck in the 75th minute from close range to move beyond Andy Cole into third in the list of all-time top scorers in the competition’s history with 188 goals. It was also his 43rd effort in a Premier League London derby, which put him level with previous outright record-holder Thierry Henry.
It added to Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg’s opener for Antonio Conte’s men and while Aleksandar Mitrovic scored late on for Fulham to set up a nervy finale, Spurs held on to make it four wins and two draws from their opening six matches.
Manager Antonio Conte, though, was pleased with his side’s all-round showing, saying: ‘For sure the performance, yeah I like the performance.
‘If I have to find a situation that we need to improve, it is to be more clinical because when you create so many chances, you have to score but we had two goals disallowed, then the crossbar.
‘Yeah, I enjoyed a lot to see my players play the ball with quality and personality.’
Son Heung-min did have the ball in the net after 10 minutes for Spurs but after a VAR check, the goal was ruled out.
It extends the Korean’s goalless run to six games, but Conte isn’t worried.
He said: ‘This is not only for Sonny (in the matches), but also the training. We have Fraser (Forster) that sometimes he made a fantastic save in training and sometimes Sonny is struggling to score.
‘I am not worried because when I see this type of performance from my players, Sonny included, I am not worried. I know they are going to score many goals.’
