Bees on a high after Toney treble

-

IVAN TONEY’S 50th, 51st and 52nd goals for Brentford helped the Bees to a thrilling success over Leeds United.

Toney brought up his half century for the club from the penalty spot — extending his record to 18/18 from 12 yards for the club — on the half-hour mark, before doubling their lead just before the interval, curling a free-kick around the wall and beyond the reach of Illan Meslier.

Luis Sinisterra did give Leeds a lifeline before the break, however, slotting the ball beyond home keeper David Raya.

Toney, though, wasn’t finished as he secured his treble on the hour mark, taking advantage of a defensive mix-up.

Marc Roca brought Leeds to within a goal again on 79 minutes, but any chance they had immediately evaportated when Bryan Mbuemo found the net a minute later to make it 4-2, much to the frustration of Leeds boss Jesse Marsch, who had been sent to the stand.

Substitute Yoane Wissa got on the scoresheet in added time, pouncing on some more poor defending before netting beyond Meslier.
