How businesswoman Dee MacMahon shapes the future

-

One of the hottest non-invasive body therapies to arrive in Ireland is Emsculpt Neo, a dual-technology body sculpting machine that melts body fat, tightens the skin and builds muscles. The main areas used with the machine are the abs and the thighs. One 30-minute session is the equivalent of 20,000 tummy crunches or squats, and it’s completely painless. Fans of Emsculpt Neo include Jennifer Lopez, Kim Kardashian and some of the stars of millionaire property programme Selling Sunset.

Dee MacMahon, a veteran of the aesthetic world in Ireland, brought the machine to Ireland early last year and it is popping up in clinics across the country.

In college, Dee studied business, working hard to get a first class degree. She says: ‘I knew I wanted to be successful and wanted to drive a brand, so sales were always going to be my thing.’ Starting in pharmaceutical sales, Dee got her break some years later.

‘In 2006 I was offered a unique contract role for Johnson & Johnson launching an innovative collagen dermal implant/filler. The role offered me a launch pad into aesthetics where the world of anti-ageing and aesthetics would shape my career,’ she says.

Before landing the contract for BTL Ireland, Dee helped launch another aesthetic company. ‘I headed up the launch of the UK aesthetic distribution business Medfx to Ireland. It’s a fast and furious world, and we brought 400-plus products to the Irish market including Botulinum toxin drugs [Botox] and

a vast range of European and FDA-approved dermal fillers. I decided a new challenge was in store. I saw BTL Aesthetics making headlines in the USA and their systems were trending among the biggest clinics in the world. I wanted to head up the Irish affiliate for BTL.’ Dee is a qualified clinical therapist and has won numerous industry accolades, among them as the first Irish winner of Best Sales Manager in the UK Aesthetic Awards.

Why did she want to get Emsculpt Neo to Ireland? ‘These systems have record-breaking innovation and have won every industry award the last four years running. Every celebrity is gym cheating to perfect and sculpt their figures, from bum lifts for muscle definition

and building, tummy tightening, arm shrinking — all of these are possible with treatments. It’s a privilege to drive the brand locally here in Ireland.’

Dee is flat out with her business, so how does she relax? She says: ‘Honestly, I do try to manage this better! Now as a manager to other colleagues, I do my best to support their work-life balance. It’s key to have downtime but it’s easier said than done.’ For more on Emsculpt Neo, go to btlaesthetics. com
