You’re catching it.’ Christopher Nolan’s time-bending blockbuster was one of the few bright cinematic lights of 2020, that year we spent so much time stuck in our homes. John David Washington (right) stars as a CIA operative trying to prevent an attack from the future, in a backwards thriller you’ll have to see at least twice to understand — so, if this is the first time, just enjoy the spectacle and don’t sweat the details. When one of Boeing’s new flagship aeroplanes, the 737 Max, crashed, killing all aboard, in October 2018, the company was quick to blame pilot error. But when a second 737 Max crashed in similar circumstances just a few months later, a darker narrative emerged. This documentary from the team behind the Oscarnominated Egyptian revolution film The Square explains how the truth about a deeply flawed plane was pieced together using testimony from company insiders, industry experts and family members of the more than 300 people who died in the crashes. Telling a tale set thousands of years before the era of Frodo and co, this prequel to The Lord Of The Rings is high fantasy at its finest. Setting out to explain how the rings of power originally came to be created by the evil Sauron, this week brings the third episode of the first series (Amazon is planning five in total) and the star of the show so far has been Morfydd Clark as young Galadriel (above). The Welsh actress replaces the elegant elder stateswoman of Peter Jackson’s movies (as played by Cate Blanchett) with a rougher-edged young warrior elf unafraid to fight for what she believes in in order to keep Middle Earth safe.
