Is it true love for troubled Toyah?

- with JACI STEPHEN

CORONATION STREET

Under pressure from friends, Carla calls off her business deal with nasty Nadeem. But it doesn’t stop the protest at the factory from turning ugly when Griff throws a bottle that hits Craig.

Later, when Saira accuses Toyah of Imran’s murder, Griff suggests vandalising her car to teach her a lesson.

Spider warns Toyah that, with her trial pending, she should avoid a troublemaker like Griff. He also confesses that his marriage is over and that she is his true love (right). The pair seal their romance with a kiss. They agree to keep things under wraps until after the trial but don’t realise that Saira has witnessed their encounter. For someone who is meant to be one of the smarter residents, Toyah sure is stupid when it comes to love.

Speaking of which, Jenny confesses to Daisy that she had a kiss with Stephen, unaware he’s only interested in her pub. The cashstrapped Canadian has flirted with every woman in Weatherfield that he thinks might be good for a few quid. His estranged wife Gabrielle arrives demanding the return of the money he stole or else she’s going to the police. His only hope is to get his mother to sign the trust fund papers — or fake her signature.

The Rovers and the Flying Horse play each other in a charity football match with James stepping in to give the Rovers a fighting chance.

Close to the final whistle, James collapses and is rushed to hospital where it’s revealed he has a heart condition. I’m sure his mum Aggie, who seems to have free rein to work across every ward at Weatherfield General, will be on hand to nurse him back to health.

What have we done to deserve two heart attack stories in the space of a few months? As if the endless plotlines about Sam and his chess skills aren’t enough to torture us with.
