Archie still not a prince

THE children of Prince Harry and Meghan will not be known as prince and princess following the death of the Queen, according to an order of succession released by Buckingham Palace.

As grandchildren of the reigning monarch, they would technically be entitled to the titles. But under the reign of King Charles III, Archie Mountbatten-Windsor, three, and sister Lilibet, one, will continue to be known as ‘Master’ and ‘Miss’.

The royal family’s website yesterday published an updated list of the order of succession. While it shows that Archie and Lilibet have risen up the order of succession and are sixth and seventh in line to the throne, they will not be known as prince and princess.

The question of titles was first raised publicly by Meghan in her 2021 interview with Oprah Winfrey. She said that when she was pregnant with Archie, ‘They were saying they didn’t want him to be a prince or a princess – not knowing what the gender would be – which would be different from protocol.’

Buckingham Palace declined to comment.
