Young father killed in two-car collision

A YOUNG MAN was killed in a horror two-car collision, gardaí confirmed yesterday.

The crash occurred on the R463 in Parteen, Co. Clare, shortly before 10pm on Friday.

The man, named locally as Tyler

Kelly, a 21-year-old father of two from St Mary’s Park in Limerick city, was pronounced dead at the scene. His body was removed to the morgue at University Hospital Limerick (UHL).

A second man, in his late teens, who was in the same car was taken to UHL with serious injuries.

The driver of the other car, a woman in her late 30s, was treated for shock at the scene, but she did not suffer serious injuries.

The road was temporaril­y closed off yesterday for a technical examinatio­n and local diversions were put in place.

Gardaí this weekend appealed to any witnesses or road users with video footage, including dash cam, to contact Henry Street Garda Station on 061 212 400 or the Garda Confidenti­al Line on 1800 666 111.
