Master Scheff takes player of year gong

-

MASTERS winner Scottie Scheffler, who won four times in 2022, has been voted the PGA Tour’s player of the year.

The 26-year-old American’s triumphs included his first major at Augusta — finishing three shots ahead of Rory McIlroy — and he received 89 per cent of the votes cast by his tour rivals.

Scheffler had not won on the PGA Tour before claiming the Phoenix Open in March, the first of four successes in a six-event stretch which saw him catapulted to No 1 in the world.
