Call for travelling fans to be refunded
FOOTBALLfansshouldnotbeleftoutofpocketbyBritishauthorities’controversial decision to pull the plug on this weekend’s fixtures,accordingtotheFootballSupporters’Association(FSA).
The FSA have urged rail companies and football bodies to ensuresupportersscheduledtotraveltogamesthisweekenddonotloseoutasaresultofthedecisionfollowingtheQueen’sdeath.
‘We’dexpecttherailindustryandthefootballauthoritiestotakeasympatheticview,’saidFSAchairmanMalcolmClarke.‘It’snotagoodtimetoaskfanstospendmoneyonthingsthatdon’thappen.’
TheFAannouncedonFridaythatallfixturesscheduledforthisweekendfromPremierLeagueandEFLleveldowntothegrassrootsgamewouldbepostponedasamarkofrespect.TheFSAsaidinastatementonFriday:‘OurviewisthatmostsupporterswouldhavelikedtogotogamesandpaytheirrespectstotheQueenalongsidetheirfellowfans.’
